Belgooly Athletes flying high in Athlone
The Indoor season came to a close on a winning note for
Belgooly Athletes on the weekend of the 23/24 March 2013 in Athlone with 3
medals gold silver and bronze in the high jumps. Padraig Nash won gold in the
boys U-14 high jump with a new pb of 1.58m, Erica Deasy won silver in the girls
U-13 high jump with a pb of 1.40m and Tom Deasy won bronze in the boys U-16
high jump with a pb of 1.65m. Padraig had also qualified for the boys U-14 long
jump where he finished 4th and the 60m hurdles where he finished 5th
in the final. Tom had qualified for the boys U-16 60m hurdles where he
finished 5th in the final. This was a great achievement by the
athletes and club following on from very successful and enjoyable Munster indoor
competitions.
The weekend of the 9/10 of February 2013 saw 20 young
members of Belgooly AC heading off to Nenagh Co Tipperary to compete in the
Munster U9-U13 Indoor Championships. For some this was there first taste of
competition while for others it was a chance to judge how much they had
improved from last year. All enjoyed their competitions and a special
congratulations to the medal winner, Danny Kelly 1st in boys U10
long jump and 3rd in 60m sprint, Ross Corkery 3rd in boys
U10 long jump and 4th in the 60m sprint. Eoghan Nash 2ed in the boys
U11 600m Erica Deasy 3rd in the girls U13 high jump. Adam Turner
finished 4th in the boys U12 long jump he was in a medal position
until the last round. We wish Erica the best of luck at the All Irelands.
